Case Example
PMO for Design and Implementation of a Centralized Order Management System for a Pharmaceutical Company
Client Challenge
The client, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in India, has several standalone order management systems (online as well as offline) across different products (finished goods, bulk, intercompany, samples, components, vaporizers, and adaptors) and geographies. The current order management process does not have capabilities to address issues and challenges of different stakeholders in different geographies. The purpose of this assignment involved identifying issues faced by sales, finance, SCM, regulatory, and quality team, define practicable solutions, and implement the solutions through vendor identification and system implementation.
Our Approach
To design and implement a standardized and centralized order management system, UC adopted the following approach:
● Map and conduct stakeholder meetings across each function to understand the issues in the order management system across geographies
● Detailed mapping of the master data requirement and ‘to-be’ process maps
● Discuss the identified solutions, proposed master data changes, and ‘to-be’ process maps with all the stakeholders across geographies to obtain buy-in
● Discuss and finalized the revised solution based on the feedback of the functional teams and resolve cross-functional issues, if any.
Our Impact
The client received a detailed master data requirement plan and ‘to-be’ process maps for the proposed order management system.
