Client Challenge

The client was a global leader in the medical technology, devices and solutions space. Top management was intending to acquire Diabetes Healthcare service providers in India and was seeking UC’s help to identify and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities.

Our Approach

To identify and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities in the Indian Diabetes care provider landscape, UC adopted the following approach:
● Segment the current Diabetes care provider landscape and understand its evolution
● Understand the ownership, customer profile and business model of different provider segments and shortlist the segments of relevance for the client
● Conduct research to identify opportunities within the shortlisted segments based on the business model robustness, scale, operational excellence, financial outcomes and reputation
● Conduct in-depth research to arrive at a list of potential acquisition targets based on their attractiveness and ease/ flexibility of partnership
● Understand the regulatory landscape in India for foreign investments into the hospital sector
For this purpose, the UC team conducted in-depth primary research with ~30 respondents (including diabetes healthcare providers, hospital administrators, endocrinologists, and other key opinion leaders) across India. The primary research was supported by extensive secondary research</p>
